I’ve called Salmon Beach home for 37 years. I’ve carried my share of groceries and lumber down those stairs, and I know the frustration of hearing a delivery driver say, “We don’t go that far.” I started HDB Marine Services because I’ve lived those challenges. I know these tides, these currents, and exactly how to nudge a boat up to a rugged shoreline to get the job done.
The Educator’s Edge
Before becoming a full-time captain, I spent 40 years teaching high school science. Throughout my teaching career, I used local vessels as floating classrooms and data-gathering platforms. This background gives HDB a unique edge:
- Technical Precision: I speak the language of research and understand the requirements for environmental data collection.
- Problem Solving: 40 years in a lab and 37 years on a beach have taught me how to find a solution for even the trickiest logistics.
- Community Driven: My goal is to support the South Sound—whether that’s helping a neighbor with a remodel or assisting a university team with a survey.
